8 Different Types Of Brow Lifts You Should Know

Most people get brow lifts without knowing what they are getting into. Their main concern is to look good at the end of the day. And though this might work for some, it’s always important to know the different types of brow lifts. There are different types of brow lifts which primarily differ by incision techniques. Incisions can be made above the brow, behind or at the hairline and in the mid-forehead. The different types of brow lifts include:

Endoscopic brow lift

A pencil probe attached to an endoscope is used to transmit video footage of the forehead to the operating room. Three to six incisions via which the endoscope is inserted are made behind the hairline. This type of brow lift is especially recommended for young people who don’t need much of a facelift.

Full coronal lift

It is the oldest type of brow lift known to man and like endoscopic brow lift, the incision is hidden behind the hairline. It is made across the crown of the head, from one temple to the other. The skin and muscles are pulled upwards and any excess skin removed. It is suitable for people who need more of a significant lift. However, should the hairline recede, the incision becomes visible.

Direct brow lift

This type of brow lift is often used to address brow ptosis that often comes as a result of facial nerve palsy or involutional changes. In this procedure, the scars are often very manageable and rarely visible, creating a high level of satisfaction for the patients.

Endoscopic technique with suture suspension

This procedure is similar to endoscopic brow lift in that it is done using an endoscope to transmit video of the forehead and that it’s suitable for young people who don’t need a major brow lift. However, it relies on permanent seams to dangle brow tissue and muscles in the new, higher position.

Temporal brow lift

As the name suggests, with this procedure, incisions are made to the temples, just behind the hairline. Also known as the lateral brow lift or simply the lateral lift, the temporal brow lift has other benefits other than giving an exotic look to your face.  It goes a long way in reducing or rather correcting the creases, folds and small wrinkles on the corners of the face, forehead and the glabella. It also helps in giving the cheeks a lift. It is sometimes considered a tension lift. This is because it puts the skin under tension causing it stretch. This subsequently leads to stretching of scars.

Temporal brow lift with suture suspension

This procedure is more or less the same as the temporal brow lift. The incision is made to the temples and uses permanent stitches to suspend brow tissue and muscles in the new position.

Subcutaneous brow lift

Also known as pretrichial, the incision for this lift is made to the front of the hairline. As such, the scars may become visible.

Non-invasive brow lift

Unlike other brow lift procedures which are invasive, this is done using Ulthera which relies on ultrasound energy to tighten the skin on the forehead. It refreshes the eyes by stimulating collagen growth, hence the brow lift is non-surgical. Mild redness is sometimes experienced within the first half hour of the treatment and results can be observed after six months.
