Plastic Surgery After Child Birth

Motherhood is profound. It is also sacred. But with it come lots of sacrifices.  Drooping breasts, stretch marks, enlarged areolas and localized fat on undesired areas. These changes are often hard to reverse even with routine workouts. That is exactly where post pregnancy makeover comes in.

What Is It?

Aptly referred to as mommy make over, post pregnancy surgery is one of the surest ways to regain pre-pregnancy figure. It is a one of a kind cosmetic surgery that involves procedures like breast reduction, breast lift, tummy tuck and a wide range of other procedures which are mostly invasive. Experts recommend the procedure after one is completely done with childbearing. Only then can one choose any of the following procedures.

Breast Lift

Complete growth of breasts happen during pregnancy. This is hardly ever a problem. The aftermath after one is done breastfeeding is usually what brings about odd looking breasts. Stretched aureoles, sagging breasts and drooping nipples are all undesired changes that happen during and after breastfeeding. All these changes can be easily corrected with a breast lift procedure also known as mastopexy. The procedure is done by trimming off excess fat and skin. The surrounding tissues are then tightened so as to lift the breasts and make them firmer. It is important to note that mastopexy cannot be used to reduce the size of one’s breasts.

Breast Reduction

Breasts tend to swell and become fuller during pregnancy. While this is not a bad thing, it can easily take a toll on your self-esteem. The best you can do is to consider breast reduction. It is ideal for women who smaller and slimmer breasts or those who have extra-large breasts. The procedure involves removal of glandular tissues and excess fat. The skin is then tightened to achieve an appealing look. Once done, the procedure gets rid of problems associated with extra-large breasts such as breathing difficulties, improper posture, low self-esteem and rashes. Do note though that breast reduction is not recommended for women who intend to breastfeed solely because it involves removal of milk ducts. Experts recommend the procedure at least 9 months after one has delivered her last baby.

Tummy Tuck

The abdominal area bags the medal when it comes to body parts that display so many notable changes during and after pregnancy. Stretch marks, protruding tummy, loose skin and even a straighter waistline are all changes that affect the abdominal area during and after pregnancy. All these changes are hard and almost impossible to change or correct with the help of dieting and exercise. Tummy tuck or abdominoplasty as plastic surgeons call it, comes in as a quicker, safer alternative.

With tummy tuck, excess skin in the abdominal area is removed. The surrounding muscles are then tightened.  This gets rid of stretch marks. It also defines the waistline.  Like breast reduction and breast lift, tummy tuck is not recommended for women who plan to get pregnant again. This is solely because another pregnancy will end up loosening the skin, taking one to step one all over again.
