Important Questions To Ask Before Getting A Brazilian Butt Lift

Butt lifts are increasing in popularity, and may soon rival or even surpass breast augmentation as the top trending cosmetic surgery procedure. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved with the operation, and it should only be performed by an experienced, licensed cosmetic surgeon. Before selecting a surgeon for this procedure, there are a number of questions you should ask:

Are You a Board Certified Surgeon?

One of the first questions you should ask any plastic surgeon is if they are board certified. Specifically, you should find out if they are certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery. There are many shady individuals that pose as certified surgeons looking to take advantage of ignorant clients to cash in on the cosmetic market, which is a multi-billion dollar industry. These individuals charge exorbitant rates for procedures which are ineffective or outright dangerous and some are good at making it appear as if they are legitimate. Never undergo any operation unless you’ve verified that the surgeon is board certified, specifically with the ABPS.

How Many Times Have You Performed a Butt Lift?

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a procedure that should only be performed by surgeons that are experienced. It is best to avoid those that don’t have a proven track record of success, and they should be able to show you photos or provide referrals for past, satisfied clients. Because women have a variety of different body types, the best surgeons for this procedure are those who have worked with a wide range of body sizes, such as slender patients, as well as medium and larger patients, as this indicates versatility and an understanding of different shapes.

How Will You Perform the Operation?

A good surgeon should be able to explain the procedure in a way that you can understand. A butt lift operation is comprised of three phases, and this is liposuction, processing the fat, and then injecting the fat into the buttocks. During liposuction a device called a cannula will be used to remove fat from one area of the body, usually at a suction pressure which is low.

Then the surgeon will take the removed fat, and centrifuge it for a short period of time. This is done so that dead or unhealthy cells will be separated from the good fat cells, which allows the good fat to then be injected into your buttocks, which is the next and final phase. A cannula will be used for this purpose, and surgeons will typically inject the fat in big batches rather than smaller ones.

How Long Will the Surgery Last?

Extracting the fat via liposuction is a meticulous procedure, and processing and reinjecting it into the buttocks must be done carefully. As a result, this surgery is one of the longest lasting among its peers, and will typically range from five to eight hours. The length of time will depend on how much liposuction is performed, as well as the quantity of fat that will need to be reinjected into the body. Any surgeon that tells you he can do a butt lift in 4 hours or less should be avoided as this means he will take shortcuts which can spell a disaster for the patient.
